Finnish Anyone? Finland

My fourth postcard was from Arma, a girl working as an office secretary in Helsinki, Finland. She wrote a very short note in English at the back; but because I was intrigued with what the Finnish words meant in the postcard, I decided to bug Mr. G for help.

This was what was written:

Mansikkakku = Strawberry Cake

3 munaa, 2 dl sokeria = 3 eggs, 2 cups sugar

2 dl vehnajauhoja = 2 dl wheat flour

1 dl perunajauhoja = 1 dl potato flour

2 tl leivinjauhetta = 2 teaspoons baking powder

3 dl kuohukermaa = 3 dl whipping cream

1 litra mansikoita = 1 litre of strawberry

Honestly, I was disappointed the moment the first word was translated into English and it got worst when I went to the other words. I was sent a list of ingredients of a cake which I was not fond of. I am more of a choco-carrot cake person. (I like my vegetables sweet so sue me.) I was kind of hoping to read a list of ingredients about life, love, or anything profound.

Oh well, we can’t have them all now, can we?
